ITHS founding Prinicipal Investigator Nora Disis, MD<\/a>, was recently honored as the UW School of Medicine Inventor of the Year<\/a><\/strong> for her work developing cancer vaccines. Among her many other academic and advisory roles, Dr. Disis serves as director of the Cancer Vaccine Insitute and cofounder of CoMotion-supported spinoff\u00a0EpiThany<\/a>. She studies the development of vaccine and cellular therapy for the treatment and prevention of common malignancies and holds several patents in cancer immunotherapy and diagnostics.<\/p>\n Dr. Disis and her groundbreaking work were celebrated at an event held at the UW Intelllectual House last week. \u201cImportant inventions that truly help people are never the work of one person,\u201d Disis said, as she recognized the CVI and EpiThany staff in attendance. \u201cThey come from super smart people working together as a team, staying together, and following through.”<\/p>\n
