Randomization can also be used to sort entire clinics or hospitals.
This means all the patients at clinic A would get Medication A. And all the patients at clinic B would get medication B and those at clinic C would get medication C. After a certain amount of time, patients at clinic A are compared with patients at clinics B and C to see who did better. As with patients, researchers can compare any number of hospitals or clinics with each other. This approach is called “cluster randomization.”
