Participate in the SNIFLS Study and Help Us Understand Viral Spread in Seattle!
We’re excited to introduce the Seattle Network for Influenza and Flu-like Symptoms (SNIFLS) Study
You may qualify to participate if you meet the following criteria:
- You are at least 18 years old.
- You currently have, or have had, cold or flu-like symptoms within the last 7-10 days.
- You own an electronic device with internet access.
Compensation
As a thank you for your participation, you’ll receive:
- $10 compensation in the form of a TANGO gift card
- A complimentary Rapid Antigen Test for COVID-19 and Flu A/B
Locations
We offer two convenient walk-up kiosk locations:
- UW Medicine South Lake Union from 10am – 4pm in the Building F Lobby, (750 Republican St Building F, 1st Floor, Seattle, WA 98109)
- Health Sciences Education Building from 10am – 2pm in the 1st Floor Lobby, on the University of Washington campus (1607 NE Pacific St, Seattle, WA 98195)
We also offer a contactless remote option. All research activities can be conducted at home and your materials will arrive by mail.
Study Activities
If you choose to join, you will be asked to:
- Complete a short survey on your personal device.
- Collect a nasal swab sample.
- Complete a 30-day follow-up survey.
The activities are quick and straightforward, taking about 20 minutes of your time. You may withdraw from the study at any point with no penalty.
This study is a research collaboration between the University of Washington and the Washington State Department of Health. This study aims to monitor the spread of respiratory viruses in the Seattle area and better understand what viruses are making our community sick.
