22 May Seattle COVID-Cohort Study at the VTU
This study will assess the immune responses to SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19 in three different groups. The body fights infection by producing different types of white blood cells that defend against foreign substances like viruses and bacteria. This process is called an immune response. The immune system responds in different ways that are not well understood. People experience different symptoms from SARS-CoV-2 infection. Different symptoms or the severity of COVID-19 may be due to differences in the immune system. We hope that by closely following the body’s specific immune responses in people who have had COVID-19, people who become infected and people who remain negative even after possible exposure, we can better understand which responses may be required for a successful vaccine or treatment against SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19.
