16 Aug SEARCH HDL CVD Study
The Diabetes Research team at Seattle Children’s is recruiting young adults ages 18-24 without diabetes for a research study to help us learn more heart health in young adults with type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Young adults with diabetes are at increased risk of CVD. We have already measured early signs of CVD in a population of young adults with diabetes (through the SEARCH for Diabetes in Youth study). In the SEARCH HDL CVD Study, we want to measure early signs of CVD in a healthy population of young adults who do not have diabetes.
Participant Eligibility
This study might be a good fit for you if you:
- Are between the ages 18-24
- Have no history of diabetes
- Are not a sibling, parent, or child of someone with type 1 diabetes
If you are interested in participating, we invite you to complete an online screening questionnaire here: https://redcap.iths.org/surveys/?s=MHW8MPXMME. This questionnaire will take about 5 minutes and will help us to determine if you are eligible to participate. If you are eligible and invited to participate, we would ask you to complete an online survey. We would also schedule you for an in-person study visit at a Seattle Children’s clinic. The study visit would include a brief physical exam, urine and blood samples, and tests to measure heart health.
