10 May Designing to Record & Share Menopause Experiences Across Generations
Family history is seen to have important implications in menopause but due to a number of reasons such as family dynamics, death, and the taboo associated with the topic, women are often missing out on this essential information. Past research found people trying to make sense of their personal menopause experiences by connecting with other family members’ experiences (e.g., what was their age of menopause onset, what symptoms did they experience & how severe). They also discussed how recording experiences accompanying menopause – in addition to quantitative health data – and sharing with future generations may help women contextualize and gain insights about their personal menopause experiences. We are motivated to understand how women wish to document their menopause experiences and share them with family members who may experience menopause in the future.
Thus, we are looking for participants who are
– at least 18 years of age
– experiencing or have experienced menopause
– interested in sharing their menopause experiences with their future generations
In a single 90-minute remote session, we want to understand how you wish to record your menopause experiences and share them with your family members who may experience menopause in the future. Your personally identifiable information will be kept confidential and will not be shared with anyone outside the members of the research team. Participation in the study is completely voluntary.
COMPENSATION: Participants will receive a giftcard for $20 (or its equivalent in other currencies) for participating in our study.
