23 Feb After ICD Shock
The purpose of this study is to determine if a 4 week self-management intervention after a person receives an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) shock, will prevent the development of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Participant Eligibility
Must have:
1) ICD implant
2) received at least 1 ICD shock in week previous to study enrollment;
3) able to read, speak, and write English;
4) online access using mobile phone and computer for study duration.
Must not have:
1) current diagnosis PTSD or other serious mental health disorder
2) cognitive difficulties
3) < 18 years of age;
4) serious alcohol use
5) regular non-medical use of opiates, cocaine, amphetamines, or other illicit substances
