24 Jun Echo-Hawk Receives 2014 Standing Ovation Award
Abigail Echo-Hawk (pictured), Tribal Liaison for the Institute of Translational Health Sciences, was recently awarded a 2014 Bob Roseth Standing Ovation Award by the University of Washington Professional Staff Organization. This award is designed to honor UW professional staff members who have a high impact with their work, exemplify UW values, successfully disseminate knowledge and resources, and exceed the expectations of their job.
“Abigail is an exceptional individual who embodies the best in working on behalf of, and hand in hand with, less advantaged people and populations to better their health and well-being. She has a profound understanding of Native community perspectives and rigorous scientific methods, and how both of these factors can be harnessed to create change and influence policy,” said Dr. Dedra Buchwald, UW Professor of Epidemiology and Medicine and Director of Partnerships for Native Health.
