A heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Kari Stephens on her new role as Vice Chair of Research at the University of Washington Department of Family Medicine!
Dr. Stephens serves as an executive faculty member with the Institute of Translational Sciences’ Biomedical Informatics Core and the Community Engagement Core. In addition, she also serves as the ITHS Data Quest Director, overseeing a regional electronic health record systems based primary care data sharing network, which has supported over $100M in grant funded projects. Her work at ITHS highlights her commitment to fostering community research partnerships and bridging the gap between healthcare data and real-world impact.
Dr. Kari A. Stephens
Prior to her relationship with ITHS, Dr. Stephens’ career path was marked by two distinct phases: information technology and psychology. Her multidisciplinary background provides a unique lens through which she approaches her work, merging the realms of informatics and mental health care. Additionally, she contributes to advancements in neurodegenerative disease research as an Associate Director with the National Alzheimer’s Coordinating Center.
This appointment recognizes Dr. Stephens’ outstanding contributions to the field of research and her pivotal role in shaping the future of healthcare innovation. Dr. Stephens officially began her new appointment in November 2024.
