Expo 24: ITHS Symposium and Poster Session

We are thrilled to announce our upcoming Expo 24: ITHS Symposium & Poster Session, which will showcase not only the exciting research of our scholars, but remarks from leading researchers and innovators in the field of nanotechnology. The event will take place on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, 12:00–4:30pm, at the Center for Urban Horticulture on the University of Washington campus.

Event Description

This year’s event will feature two distinguished keynote speakers who will discuss the latest advancements in nanotech in medicine.

  • Dr. Philip Low (Presidential Scholar for Drug Discovery and Ralph C. Corley Distinguished Professor of Chemistry – Biochemistry, Purdue University) will discuss his research in next generation targeted therapeutics.
  • Dr. Rodney Ho (Professor, School of Pharmacy, University of Washington; Executive Director, WE-REACH; Director, TLC-ART Program; Faculty, ITHS, Fred Hutch Cancer Center and CFAR; Member, National Academy of Inventors) will focus on translation of short-acting to long-acting and targeted combinational HIV nanomedicine.

In addition to the keynote presentations and an exciting hour of lightning talks from local biomedical entrepreneurs, the poster session will feature presentations by dozens of researchers and innovators all across the spectrum of translational science. The event will provide an excellent opportunity for networking and collaboration among attendees and presenters. Download the event agenda here.

About The Center for Urban Horticulture

The Center for Urban Horticulture, opened in 1984, is part of the University of Washington Botanic Gardens. It includes a 16-acre landscaped site with buildings and gardens, and the 74-acre Union Bay Natural Area, which provides publicly accessible wildlife habitat (more than 200 bird species have been sighted there) and an outdoor laboratory for UW research. The UW Botanic Gardens’ administrative offices are housed in Merrill Hall, along with associated faculty and research laboratories and greenhouses.
