Jeannine S. McCune, PharmD

Dr. McCune co-directs the UW Department of Pharmaceutics’ Pharmacokinetics and Modeling Laboratory. She is a Professor at the University of Washington and Full Member at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.

Dr. McCune’s research focuses on the clinical pharmacokinetics of anticancer agents and immunosuppressants, with the goal of improving survival rates by identifying biomarkers predictive of treatment response. Specifically, she has quantified the exposure of anticancer agents and immunosuppressants in hematopoietic cell transplant recipients used to treat malignant and non-malignant conditions. She is currently developing pharmacokinetic models to identify anticancer agent plasma exposure effective at treating cancer and modeling drug doses and dosing frequencies to optimize efficacy in pediatric cancer patients. Her work also evaluates constitutional pharmacogenomics and metabolomics relevant to drug exposure and drug response.

Dr. McCune has received several major National Institutes of Health grants for personalized medicine with children and adults with cancer, and has over 130 publications in her areas of interest. She is an Associate Editor for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics. She has also served as a member of multiple NIH study sections and is a member of Children’s Oncology Group.
