Andrew Laughlin is an associate in the life sciences practice group at Christensen O’Connor Johnson Kindness PLLC (COJK), focusing his practice on the preparation and prosecution of patent applications related to chemical, nanotechnology, materials science, and medical device inventions. Andrew has additional experience in patent validity, enforcement, and licensing, as well as ex parte reexaminations and inter partes reviews.

Prior to joining COJK, Andrew was with the University of Washington’s technology transfer office for five years. In his most recent position at UW, he was a senior patent portfolio manager responsible for managing the patent strategy, preparation, prosecution, and protection for chemistry and life sciences inventions across the university.

Andrew earned a J.D. from Seattle University School of Law in 2010. He received his B.S. and his M.S. degrees in chemistry from the University of Washington in 2003 and 2006. As a graduate research assistant at the University of Washington, he studied conjugated polymers and quantum dots in photovoltaic devices.
