17 Mar ITHS During Coronavirus
If you are wondering how the coronavirus is affecting our ITHS community, here is a recap of the latest impacts. Right now, we are encouraging employees at ITHS to work from home to minimize any chance of exposure to COVID-19. However, we will be going on with business as usual as much as we can.
“We will continue to provide education and training opportunities, including funding opportunities and recruiting during the coronavirus outbreak, with just some adjustments that will help keep our community safe while we keep moving our work forward,” said Tong Sun, ITHS Executive Director.
One of the biggest impacts the coronavirus has had at ITHS is how we are conducting our events. If you are an ITHS member, collaborator or employee, you may have already seen that our meetings are now being held through video conferencing instead of in-person.
In our Calendar of Events, you’ll see that most of our in-person activities, such as our education seminars, have been changed to virtual events. Although providing webinars is not new to us, adapting large events with interactive activities does complicate things a bit online. We are learning, adapting and we are thriving as we make the best out of virtual meetings! However, some of our larger events are being canceled or postponed.

Beyond our events, ITHS has a lot of work this year related to grant development and we will continue to maintain the pace and the quality of our work throughout all our programs and services we provide to our research community. We will continue to keep you updated with any further changes. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
For updates on the coronavirus outbreak, we recommend people to go to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website where you will also find information on this disease, steps to prevent illness, what to do if you are sick and how to keep your community safe from getting or spreading COVID-19.
