This year our Introduction to Clinical Research Boot Camp took place on July 30th and 31st. It was sold out, and we were able to provide travel awards, which makes us feel confident our education resources are serving our scientific community well.
The Boot Camp kicked off this year with our keynote speaker, Barbara Konkle, MD. Dr. Konkle shared her work and experience studying hemophilia and working toward finding a cure. She also shared insightful knowledge, research and progress that she has done in gene therapy. Participants were able to listen in and learn new insights of real life experience in clinical trial studies from examples that Dr. Konkle shared. It was a good opportunity to gain new perspectives and ask questions.
The Boot Camp was an opportunity to learn more about clinical trials, meet people in the translational science community and network. This is an intensive workshop designed to provide foundational knowledge in designing and managing clinical trials for research team members, including faculty, staff and post-doctoral fellows, new to the translational process.
Each course featured experts from the University of Washington, Seattle Children’s, Fred Hutch and other regional partners. If you couldn’t make it this time, don’t miss out on this great opportunity for next year!
